Elder Ethel P. Sandlin
hails from the modest town of Hampstead, N.C.
She has been married to Pastor Emeritus George
T. Sandlin, Jr. for fifty-five (55) years and
are the proud parents of six (6) children and
six (6) grandchildren. Elder Sandlin accepted
the call into the ministry October 1962 under
the leadership of Elder Hattie L. Smith, and was
ordained October 1967 under the
Goldsboro/Raleigh Assembly Churches of Christ
(Disciples of Christ), Inc.
Elder Sandlin and her
husband answered the call to ministry on the
same day, and believed they were given the call
as one. After much fasting, praying and studying
of God's Word, they began to assist their leader
in the building of the St. Matthew Church |

of Christ (Disciples of Christ) in
Jacksonville, NC. They were Associate Ministers at St.
Matthew for fifteen (15) years, building and expanding the
physical church, as well as the spiritual. They served
together in three (3) other churches for a combined total of
thirty (30) years. Her formal
education consists of a Diploma in Practical Nursing in
1976, and an Associate Degree in Nursing in 1981 and her
service as the Executive Secretary of the Student Nurses'
Association of North Carolina for two (2) years. She
completed eighteen (18) months of Christian Education at Mt.
Olive College in pursuit of a Bachelor of Science Degree in
Christian Ministries. She completed many years of study at
the Goldsboro Disciple Institute, Goldsboro, N.C. and
attended many retreats and formal classes through the
Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of North Carolina.
Elder Sandlin is affiliated with the Interdenominational
Minister's Wives and Minister Widows Association and has
organized three (3) local organizations and served as a
member/president of each. She organized the disciples of
Christ Youth groups in many of the Goldsboro/Raleigh
Churches of Christ (Disciples of Christ) and served as
Associate Minister alongside her husband for 30 years.
Currently, Elder Sandlin and her husband serve on the
Ministerial Staff at Macedonia New Life Church, under the
leadership of her Pastor, Dr. Joe L. Stevenson, and
continues her employment at the Wake-Med Health & Hospitals,
Raleigh, N.C. as a Registered Nurse. |
